# Synchronization settings

> When and how often PricePirate measures your listings — shop-wide defaults and per-listing settings.

Synchronizations are the regular measurements PricePirate runs on a listing. They provide the data for [metrics](/docs/en/guide/insights/metrics), [reports](/docs/en/guide/reports/overview), and [price changes](/docs/en/guide/price-changes/review). Each synchronization of a listing uses **1 credit per marketplace** — see [Credits](/docs/en/guide/concepts/credits).

## Shop-wide defaults

You set the defaults for all listings centrally on the [Settings](/docs/en/guide/account/settings) page:

* **Daily synchronizations per listing**: the default for newly connected listings. Already-connected listings keep their value.
* **Timezone**: always applies shop-wide (default: `Europe/Berlin`).
* **Daily time window**: the period over which synchronizations are spread evenly (default: 05:00 to 23:00).
* **Boost range and boost factor**: schedule synchronizations more densely within a period, while the daily total stays the same.

The full description of these fields is under [Settings](/docs/en/guide/account/settings).

## Per-listing settings

Individual listings can deviate from the shop default. You open a listing's **Synchronization settings** in the [Product settings](/docs/en/guide/catalog/product-settings) — through the button next to an active row, or the **Edit** menu for a selection of several products.

**Daily synchronizations**: Sets how often the listing is synchronized per day (max. 16). Each synchronization uses 1 daily credit.

**Advanced settings**: This toggle reveals additional fields:

| Field | Meaning |
| ---------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Timezone** | Applies shop-wide, not only to this listing. |
| **Override daily start time / end time** | Overrides the time window for the selected listings only. Leave empty to use the shop default. |
| **Boost time range** | **Use shop default**, **Custom boost range**, or **Disable boost**. For a custom range you set a start and end time and the **boost factor** (a whole number from 2 to 10). |

## Credits and limits

A listing's daily credit consumption follows its number of daily synchronizations. If activating or a changed synchronization exceeds your plan's daily credit limit, the **Daily credit limit reached** dialog appears. See [Product settings](/docs/en/guide/catalog/product-settings), [Credits](/docs/en/guide/concepts/credits), and [Billing](/docs/en/guide/account/billing).

## Synchronize sensibly

Volatile products benefit from more synchronizations; stable products need fewer, which saves credits. You can see which listings move the most in the [activity report](/docs/en/guide/reports/activity) and from **Price Volatility** in the [product metrics](/docs/en/guide/insights/metrics). Why volatility should drive the frequency, and when PricePirate warns about it, is explained on the [Price volatility](/docs/en/guide/insights/volatility) page.
